Proven Design Process
In designing over 200 websites, we’ve noticed patterns of layouts that work really well for business websites. They consist primarily of a header with navigation, a billboard that grabs the visitors attention & asks them to take an action, 3 or 4 featured content areas fight below the billboard and a footer.
They work really well because it makes information easily digestible for the eyes by giving clear direction on what is most important and what is less important.
Take a look at some of the world’s top companies. Notice how they all use the Billboard Website Layout with a few tweaks:
Project Workflow
Here is how your project would go if we decide to work with each other:
Image Questionaire
We’d start by having you complete an in-depth image questionaire. This questionaire will ask a lot of penetrating questions to help me understand how you want to be perceived by the world, how you want to be positioned against others in the same space, what’s different about your site versus other sites, how you measure success, etc. Based on your responses to these questions, I’ll create a design that I think will work well for you and will achieve your goals. I’ll send this to you via email (around 1 week after we start) and if the design looks like it’s on track, we’ll schedule an interactive design session.
Interactive Design Session
An interactive design session is where we get on the phone and I get you to login to our web conferencing software. This allows you to see everything on my computer screen and talk with me on the phone at the same time.
We use this technology to make refinements to your website design in real-time, so if for example you want the color of blue we’re using to be “a little darker”, I do it, you see and we decide if it works with everything else on the design.
We do this “ready-fire-aim” cycle a whole bunch of times and after about an hour and half, we’ll probably have the design EXACTLY how you want it and 95% of the time, you absolutely love it (the other 5% of the time, you’ll just really really like it
.)
This process cuts out about 2 weeks of going back-n-forth and at the end of this design session, we’ll have a finalized design for the website. Next comes coding.
WordPress Programming
When we’re turning your website design into a WordPress theme, we take delicate care to make sure that we don’t cut any corners. This ensures that the code is very clean, easy to modify in the future and very search engine friendly. We’ll also install a number of WordPress plugins that will make your website perform faster. The end result of this process is that you’ll have a solid website that will not only look great but perform well on search engines as well as for regular users. At this point, content is integrated and we’re ready to go.
